The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology was founded in 2001 after reorganization of the biological sciences in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan. In 2011, EEB, the Herbarium and the Museum of Zoology merged in order to enhance our broad strengths in evolutionary biology by further integrating the programs. The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology embraces education and research on virtually all aspects of biodiversity, including:
origins and history of species ranging from bacteria to humans
processes by which this diversity has evolved
ecological context in which this evolution takes place
